The newly appointed Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) Chief, Deepak Baij challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the ensuing state assembly election in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 41-year-old Member of Parliament from Bastar launched a scathing attack against the BJP soon after taking charge as CPCC Chief on Saturday. Earlier, he was accorded a warm and rousing welcome on his arrival from New Delhi. The Congress activists gathered in large numbers at the airport and on the way to welcome the new Party President.

Baij reached Congress Bhawan in a convoy and took charge of his new assignment. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, outgoing CPCC President Mohan Markam, ministers and senior Congress leaders were present on the occasion.

Addressing party workers, Baij lobbed volley at the BJP and said if the party had courage, let it contest the Chhattisgarh assembly elections in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the central government had been giving step-motherly treatment to Chhattisgarh for four and a half years. “Will fight with the central government and Narendra Modi under the leadership of the Chief Minister,” the CPCC President said.

He added that the Congress party will fight the 2023 assembly elections on Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s face. “Will form the government by working 18 hours. Will do the work of the organization with honesty and will form the government,” Baij said, adding that he and the party workers would work day and night for 3 months to ensure Congress’ victory in the state.

Overwhelmed with the historic welcome, he said even the rains could not deter the spirit of Congress workers and leaders. “Power and organization both are different. It is necessary to have coordination between power and organization,” he added.

The new Chhattisgarh Congress Chief said the only mission now was to ensure 75 plus seats for the Congress in the 2023 assembly elections.
