Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla has asked the Chief Secretary of Bihar, Amir Subhani to investigate the case related to discretion to the body of a Dalit Shrikant Paswan by the members of minority community during a funeral in a village in Darbhanga last month.
Bhalla in his letter to the CS of Bihar said, “Ministry has received information on gross abuses against scheduled caste community at Kamtaul in Darbhanga district. During the cremation of a SC member, Shrikant Paswan, who died of cancer, his body was taken out of the cremation pit by the members of the minority community. beaten up and badly desecrated.”
The allegation is that, Home Secretary wrote, the cremation ground belonged to the Paswan community, where they have been undertaking cremation. After the funeral, houses of many Dalits were damaged and cremation was denied. Police personnel who arrived at the scene were also hurt along with damage to their vehicles.
According to the letter of the Home Secretary, Dalits are being coerced and forced to migrate by the members of the minority community. Describing the issue as sensitive and serious offence against scheduled caste. Bhalla asked Subhani to have a detailed investigation into the atrocities on Paswans and send a report to the ministry.
Earlier, a delegation of the BJP leaders led by state party president Samrat Chaudhury had met the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday and submitted a report filed by four MPs of the party who had visited the affected village.
