SAIL-BSP and SMS group GmbH ink deal for decarbonisation

Raipur, August 3

Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SMS group GmbH  for developing process of decarbonisation in steel process.

This will have special focus on Iron Making process and will make path way for the production of Green Steel. On behalf of SAIL-BSP, Saumya Tokdar, CGM BFs inked the agreement while SMS group was represented by Marco Asquini, CEO SMS Group  APAC & MEA. The MoU was signed at MTI Ranchi on August 3, 2023.

The occasion was graced by Anirban Dasgupta , Director I/c (BSP), Atanu Bhowmik, DIC RSP and BSL, Arvind Kumar Singh, Director Technical, B P Singh, DIC ISP and DSP and several other Senior SAIL dignitaries.

SMS group is the leading engineering and technical company in the field of steel production. SAIL BSP  with SMS group will explore solutions for implementation of long term sustainable steel making to decarbonize steel production in its integrated steel plant.

SMS group shall provide its technological expertise for design, engineering, equipment supplies, technical assistance for erection & commissioning of facilities for the decarbonisation in the steel process. With this MoU, new avenues will be explored in the Indian steel industry.
