Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy R K Singh dedicated the 660 MW second unit of Barh Super Thermal Power Project at Barh in Patna, Bihar on Friday.

The Minister congratulated Team NTPC including all the engineers and workers involved in the project for successfully completing the Unit. Speaking on this occasion, the Minister appreciated NTPC for fulfilling over 90% of power requirement of Bihar. Later, he felicitated the engineers and workers associated with the completion of Unit #2 (660MW) of the project.

Gyanendra Kumar Singh, Barh MLA, also spoke on this occasion.

Earlier, Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC welcomed the Minister and other dignitaries and thanked them for their continued support and guidance.  K Sreekant, CMD, PowerGrid, Dillip Kumar Patel, Director (HR), NTPC, Ujjwal Kanti Bhattacharya, Director (Projects), NTPC, senior officials of Govt of Bihar, NTPC and other dignitaries were present.

The first unit of 660 MW was commissioned in October 2021 but the company announced its commercial operation with effect from November 2021. The company completed the trial operation of the second unit in the first week of last month.
