The newly formed Chhattisgarh Clerical Federation (CCF), the umbrella organization of different clerical associations in the state, has decided to intensify its agitation in support of their single point demand.

The clerical staff in the state constituted a separate entity as CCF. The single point demand that includes pay discrepancy and renaming the posts has been pending for the last four decades. The Federation has launched a campaign to accelerate the agitation in support of the demand.

The CCF has called for mass leave of entire clerical staff in the state on August 22. “Even after that, if the demand is not met, the clerks will go on an indefinite strike from September 4,” Sanjay Singh, the Regional President of the Federation said.

Singh along with senior members including Bholaram Keer, Rafiq Khan, Devashish Das, Rajkumar Sondhiya, Hiralal Porte, Ashish Thakur, Dikendra Khunte and others have started the campaign for the success of the agitation. They have visited different departments and canvassed. The Federation office bearers said they had been receiving overwhelming response from the clerical staff at different departments.

The clerical staff in Chhattisgarh resorted to strike in 2011-12 and 2012-13 during the regime of then BJP government that continued for 21 and 35 days. The Raman Singh government declared a computer promotion allowance of Rs 250-500. However, the employees were not convinced.

The Federation office bearers said despite assurance, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had not addressed their issues. Even the Manoj Pingua committee set up for rectifying pay discrepancy had failed to submit its report. “We have urged the clerical staff that to get their rights, they have to come forward and struggle,” they added.
