The Chhattisgarh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday released a 104-page Aroop Patra (charge-sheet) against the Congress government led by Bhupesh Baghel, accusing that it is neck-deep in corruption.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah released the charge-sheet in presence of senior party leaders of the state at Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur. Addressing the gathering, Shah said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel made Chhattisgarh the ‘ATM’ of the Gandhi family and diverted the state from the path of development. He said that the BJP had circulated the charge-sheet to spread public awareness against the government of scams, atrocities and promises in the last five years of Congress rule.
Shah said the BJP would take it on the path of development by forming a government again in the state. The Union Home Minister said that the BJP government in Chhattisgarh worked for 15 years to fulfill Atal ji’s dream and deliver good governance. But when the Congress came to power in 2018, it formed a government of loot, corruption and scams, stalling the process of development in the state.
‘The people of Chhattisgarh have always blessed the BJP. The party formed the government thrice in the state. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got 10 out of 11 seats in the state, while in 2019 it won nine seats. It is believed that in 2024, with the blessings of the people, a strong government will once again be formed at the Center under the leadership of Modi ji and before that the BJP government with absolute majority will come to power in Chhattisgarh,” Shah said.
The Union Minister warned that the corruption of the Congress government had not been completely exposed yet and would happen only when the BJP government would come to power in Chhattisgarh. “Those involved in the corruption will be hung upside down,” Shah said. Referring to the recent money laundering case related to the Mahadev online betting app, Shah quizzed asked whether the people of Chhattisgarh wanted a government that was pushing youth to online betting or a BJP government that ensured the welfare of youths.
“And now they [those in government] are afraid that their names may be spilled by the ones who have been sent to jail. In coal [levy], a scandal of Rs 2,000 crore has taken place in which [a commission of] Rs 25 per tonne has been fixed. A scandal of Rs 4,000 crore has taken place in forest department tenders,” he added.
