Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday said that the state government formulated all the schemes keeping the interests of the women.
He was addressing women who thronged his residence in the state capital to celebrate Chhattisgarh’s important festival Teeja-Pora Tihar on Thursday. The Chief Minister, who was accompanied by his family members, offered prayers of Nandi Baila and Hal (agriculture equipment for ploughing).
“As we do every year on the occasion of Pora Tihar, we have invited our sisters to the Chief Minister House, and we are happy that they have accepted our invitation graciously,” Baghel said while extending warm greetings to the people on the occasion.
The people visiting Chhattisgarh carry different perceptions about women of the state noticing their transformation, social awareness, self-reliance and actively participating in various kinds of activities. “If you observe the schemes being run in the state, you will find that these schemes have been formulated with women empowerment being the main objective,” Baghel said.
Chhattisgarh Government has transferred approximately Rs 1 lakh 75 thousand crore directly into the accounts of the people of the state through schemes like Kisan Nyay Yojana, Labour Welfare Scheme, Godhan NYAY Yojana.
On the occasion of Teeja, it is believed that it rains when women go to their parents’ homes, he said. “You can see that it has been raining well for the last two-three days. In the last 5 years, we the people of Chhattisgarh have not faced any famine,” Baghel added.
The Chief Minister said they had recently declared that those guilty of committing crimes against women would not be given government jobs.
He added that in a first for Chhattisgarh, government-run English medium schools have commenced, providing children from economically disadvantaged families an opportunity to receive education in English. “We are consistently working towards ensuring financial prosperity for everyone. Today, women are not just managing their households but also taking the lead in various other important initiatives,” the Chief Minister said.
He added that women in the state are actively participating in search operations and have formed efficient troupes to carry out the task.
