Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday took cognizance of the incident of a dalit woman being stripped naked at Mosimpur village under Khusrupur police station, 30 km west from the state capital and directed the officers to ensure arrest of the culprits.
Nitish said justice would be done to the victim woman. J S Gangwar, additional DG of Police said an FIR has been lodged at Khusrupur police station against two landlords and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab the father-son duo who had allegedly assaulted, stripped naked and urinated on the mouth of the dalit woman on Saturday night.
A delegation of the Bahujan Samaj Party led by party in-charge of Bihar, Anil Kumar today visited the victim woman and assured her financial assistance. Anil Kumar said Subodh Das , husband of the woman who had borrowed Rs 1500 from the local landlord, Pramod Singh and had returned the principal amount two years back. He was pressing Subodh Das to pay interest on the loan amount.
On Saturday night, Pramod dragged wife of Subodh to his house and with the help of his son, Anshu Kumar, stripped her naked. She was beaten with sticks and Anshu urinated on the face of the woman who was saved by other woman. BSP alleged Manipur has been recreated at Mosimpur.
According to the FIR lodged by the woman, Asha Devi, she was beaten by the landlord and four others. She received head injuries and was admitted at Khusrupur government hospital.
Ms Brinda Karat, CPM leader who was here on Monday hoped the INDIA government would act fast against the culprit lands and described the incident as “annihilation of caste”.
Yogendra Paswan, former vice-chairman of the National SC commission and BJP leader who met the victim, alleged the landlord was being protected as he belonged to the ruling caste(Yadav).
Police have registered a case under Prevention of Atrocities(SC/ST) Act.
