SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant’s MM, BRM & WRM Departments mark new records

Several new day and shift records of production were set by SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant in various areas of production.

The departments of the plant, along with finishing mills including Merchant Mill, Bard and Rod Mill, and Wire Rod Mill, have recorded their best records, demonstrating excellence in production in their respective areas.

Merchant Mill

Plant’s Merchant Mill (MM), which rolls out light structural, TMT bars, angles and channels, set a new day record by producing 2,261 Tonne in the challenging profile of 75x75x8 mm, on 30th October 2023. The Mill also set a new shift record of 693 Tonne (1,420 Billets) in the same profile in the C-Shift of the same day, surpassing its previous best of 676 Tonne (1,380 Billets) made in the B Shift of 04th February 2022. 

Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (Bhilai Steel Plant) along with Tapas Dasgupta, Acting ED (Works) and Plant’s Senior Management reached the shop floor and congratulated the department personnel on this achievement by Plant’s MM department.

Bar & Rod Mill

The Bar and Rod Mill of the Plant has also recorded the best-ever rolling record in the TMT 12 profile, by rolling a record number of 622 billets in the ‘A’ shift of 25th  October 2023, against the previous best of 612 billets accomplished in the ‘B’ shift of 13th  September 2023. With this, BRM has achieved a record production of 3,343 Tonne in production, surpassing its previous best record of 3,303 Tonne achieved on 13th September 2023.

The best-ever steel loading record of 23,930 Tonne was also achieved on 27th October 2023, by surpassing the previous best of 23,252 Tonne. For this achievement, Plant Director-in-charge Anirban Dasgupta, Director I/c (BSP) and Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) congratulated all the departments concerned and also encouraged the personnel to work with the same spirit and achieve similar feats in future.

These remarkable achievements were made with collective efforts and coordination of employees of the respective departments. Plant personnel worked together with utmost dedication and completed given tasks on time, under the leadership of the concerned Departmental Heads, resulting in improved productivity and breaking of previous records.
