While SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has recorded new highs in almost all areas of production in the first seven months of current fiscal from April to Oct 23, the Plant’s Modex units including Sinter Plant 3, Blast Furnace 8, Steel Melting Shop 3, Universal Rail Mill and Bar and Rod Mill have made new records in production.
Modex Unit Sinter Plant 3 recorded production of 3,486,284 T in April to Oct period as against previous best of 3,001,267 T recorded in corresponding period of fiscal year 2022-23. Modex Unit Blast Fce 8 recorded best ever hot metal production of 1,577,092 T in April to Oct period as against previous best of 1,453,190 T recorded in corresponding period of fiscal year 2021-22.
Total Cast Steel production of 1,995,337 Tonnes by Modex Unit Steel Melting Shop 3 during April to Oct 23 period has been best ever as against previous best of 1,635,793 T recorded in corresponding period of 2022-23. This included best ever Billet production of 1,320,801 T and best ever Bloom production of 674,536 T as against previous best figures of 1,003,772 T and 629,021 T, respectively, recorded in FY 2022-23.
Another Modex Unit, Bar & Rod Mill also recorded best ever production of 564,731 Tonnes during April to Oct 23 period, surpassing previous best of 477,743 T recorded in corresponding period of 2022-23.
Modex Unit, Universal Rail Mill that produces the world’s longest 130 metre rail in single piece has recorded best ever Finished Rail production of 502,300 T, best ever Prime Rail production of 473,059 T and best ever Long Rail production of 454,059 T in April to Oct 23 period as against previous best figures of 459,886 T, 428,390 T and 414,675 T, respectively recorded in FY 2022-23. Total Long Rail Production by both URM and Rail & Strl Mill too has been best ever at 541,365 Tonnes as against previous best of 479,736 T recorded in corresponding period of FY 2022-23.
Besides the Modex units, the Plant’s Plate Mill too recorded best ever production of value-added special steel plates. The Mill recorded best ever Boiler Quality plates production of 65,625 T during April to Oct 23 as against previous best of 65,326 T recorded in corresponding period of FY 2021-22. Best ever high tensile plates production of 203,625 T was also recorded in April to Oct 23 period as against previous best of 148,540 T in corresponding period of FY 22-23.
Total Finished Steel Production of 2,728,078 T by Bhilai Steel Plant in April to Oct 23 period has been best ever, surpassing previous best of 2,442,598 T recorded in corresponding period of 2022-23. Total Saleable Steel Production of 3,026,672 T by BSP has also been best ever for April to Oct period, surpassing previous best of 2,647,860 T recorded in corresponding period of FY 2022-23.
Loading of Long Rails at 553,204 T in April-Oct 23 has been best ever as against previous best of 486,646 T recorded in corresponding period of FY 2022-23. Loading for Direct Despatches from the Plant at 1,679,624 T in April-Oct 23 has been best ever as against previous best of 1,452,263 T recorded in corresponding period of FY 2022-23. Total Loading of Saleable Steel at 2,989,467 T in April-Oct 23 has been best ever as against previous best of 2,673,724 T recorded in corresponding period of FY 2022-23.
