South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), the Chhattisgarh-based arm of state-run Coal India Limited (CIL), has set a record in producing 100 million tonnes (MT) of coal.
Continuing with its feat in the financial year 2023-24, SECL has produced 100 MT of coal, which is reported to be the fastest output since the inception of the company. Compared to the last financial year, the company had achieved the 100 MT target 32 days ahead, the SECL spokesperson said.
The company’s mega projects have contributed significantly to the achievement. The company’s Gevra project contributed 30.76 MT, Kusmunda 23.72 MT and Dipka produced 17.39 MT of coal. With this, the company’s mega projects have contributed about 71 per cent of the total 100 MT.
SECL has already achieved the fastest 100 MCuM OBR and 100 MT coal dispatch since its inception in the current fiscal. The company has made a record in the last financial year by producing 167 MT, highest ever since SECL came into being. The company is progressing to achieve the target of 197 MT in the current financial year.
