The much awaited Iron Ore Lump Crushing Unit was inaugurated by Anirban Dasgupta Director In charge, Bhilai Steel Plant on 9th December 2023.
The new unit shall crush iron ore lumps into fines to be utilised by Sinter Plants for making Sinter. The fines generated from the crushing unit will have higher iron content and less gangue than the fines supplied from Mines. It shall result in production of better quality Sinter, which in turn will increase the productivity of Blast Furnaces.
Director I/c Shri Dasgupta appreciated the efforts of Ore Handling Plant (OHP) team for ensuring timely execution of project for erecting the unit. He also appreciated the spirited Bhilai Collective for overcoming challenging situations and turning them into opportunities.
Anjani Kumar, ED (Works) was also highly appreciative of Team OHP for their efforts. He thanked everybody who helped for timely completion of the project. B K Giri, ED (Mines) in his address praised all members of the team that was behind this project.
S. Mukhopadhyay, ED (Projects), A K Chakraborty ED (MM), Sameer Swarup, ED (Rowghat), Pawan Kumar, ED (P&A) and Dr. Ravindranath M., CMO I/c (M&HS) were present on this occasion, along with CGM in charges, CGMs, GMs and other senior officials of the Plant. A video presentation explaining the working and significance of the ore-crushing Unit was also played on this occasion.
Tapas Dasgupta, CGM I/c (Iron) briefed about the significance of the project in his welcome address. The programme was compered by R K Bisare, CGM (Plate Mill) and Ms.Sushmits Patla. Asst. Mgr (Personnel).
Proposing the vote of thanks, H K Pathak, CGM (OHP) said execution of the project was a triumph of Team BSP, made possible with the support and guidance of Director I/c and ED (Works).
