The Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai has invited former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other senior Congress leaders to the swearing in ceremony to be held in the state capital on Wednesday.
Sai will take oath as the fourth Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh at the science college ground at around 2 pm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J P Nadda, Chief Ministers of the BJP and NDA-ruled states are likely to attend the function.
Following a high voltage electoral battle, BJP trounced Congress and returned to power in Chhattisgarh after five years. The party bagged 54 seats contesting all pre-poll predictions while Congress was confined to 35 seats.
On Sunday, the BJP Legislature Party elected Sai as its leader. The former Union Minister of state for steel and mines, and BJP state President, Sai on Tuesday telephoned his predecessor Bhupesh Baghel by setting aside the political rivalry and invited him to his oath taking ceremony.
A state government spokesperson said Sai also dialed former Deputy Chief Minister T S Singh Dev and Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Deepak Baij for the swearing in ceremony.
Meanwhile, the entire administration has swung into action for the preparation. Over a lakh people are estimated to attend the event that would take place under a thick security cover. Besides Sai, the 12 ministers in his cabinet would also take oath.
