Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a flagship unit of Great-Place-To Work Certified Maharatna Company SAIL, concluded the calendar year 2023 with a string of remarkable achievements, demonstrating its best-ever performance in key production areas for any calendar year.
The Steel Plant produced 44,02,000 Tonnes of Hot Metal, 40,96,000 Tonnes of Crude Steel and 40,22,000 Tonnes of Saleable Steel in 2023 to register its best calendar year performance. The Saleable Steel production witnessed a substantial growth of 7 per cent over the previous calendar year. The State-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill-2 contributed in the rise by producing 23,02,000 Tonnes of HR Coils with an impressive growth 72% over the previous calendar year. Notably, the world class Mill has recently received CE certification facilitating its entry to the lucrative European Market.
Besides, RSP also exhibited outstanding performance across various critical metrics in the first three quarters of the fiscal year 2023-24 (April-December 2023). The Steel Plant achieved its highest-ever production figures, with 33,16,808 Tonnes of Hot Metal, 30,82,244 Tonnes of Crude Steel, and 30,56,598 Tonnes of Saleable Steel. These accomplishments mark the best-ever performance in their respective categories.
In his New Year message to the collective, Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, RSP with the additional charge of Bokaro Steel Plant emphasized the need to sustain this momentum. He urged the team to create new landmarks with a specific focus on safety, cost-efficiency, quality, and techno-economics.
