Hira Group’s Godawari Power and Ispat enhances sponge iron capacity

Godarwari Power and Ispat Limited (GPIL), the flagship entity of Chhattisgarh-based Hira Group, has enhanced the capacity of sponge iron division by about one lakh tonnes.

“Pursuant to Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations 2015, we are pleased to inform you that our company has received an approval letter dated 19.01.2024 from Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (‘Board’) vide which the Board has accorded its “Consent To Operate” for enhanced capacity of Sponge Iron Division (SID) from 4,95,000 Metric Tons per annum to 5,94,000 Metric Tons per annum on trial basis at existing plant site at Siltara Industrial Area, Raipur, Chhattisgarh valid upto 31.08.2024, subject to further renewal,” GPIL said in a regulatory filing today.  

The company received the letter from the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board on Saturday. “There is no modification nor any additional investments shall be required in the Company’s Sponge Iron Division to operate the plant at the enhanced capacity of 5,94,000 Metric Tons,” the company said.

GPIL is a fully integrated steel company that operates across the entire steel value chain. The Company’s operations span from iron ore extraction from two mines to the production of iron ore pellets and high-value steel products.
