No new liquor shop to open in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh government led by Vishnu Deo Sai Wednesday decided to ban opening new liquor shop in the state.

The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting held in the Mantrayala here on Wednesday evening. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai chaired the meeting.   

“Chhattisgarh Excise Policy for the financial year 2024-25 has been approved. It has been decided that no new liquor shop will be opened,” the state government spokesperson said after the meeting.

The draft of the address of the Governor for the second session of the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Chhattisgarh for February-March 2024 was approved in the meeting. Besides the third supplementary estimate for the financial year 2023-2024, the state cabinet approved the draft of Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill-2024 for presentation in the Assembly for the budget estimate year 2024-25.

The draft of Chhattisgarh Civil Court (Amendment) Bill-2024 has been approved. In the amendment, a provision has been made to convert ‘District Judge’ into ‘Chief District Judge’ and ‘Additional District Judge’ into ‘District Judge’. Similarly, a provision has been made to replace Civil Judge First Class’ with Civil Judge Senior Category’ and ‘Civil Judge Second Class’ with ‘Civil Judge Junior Category’ and ‘District Court’ with ‘Principal District Court’.

The state cabinet also approved a proposal to create 5 posts of Joint Registrar (M) in the High Court Bilaspur from the contingency fund.
