Chhattisgarh readies for finance panel visit

A 12-member team of the 16th Finance Commission of India led by Chairman Arvind Panagariya is arriving in the Chhattisgarh capital Raipur on Wednesday.

The team will hold discussions with Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, cabinet members, and senior officials on various issues, including the state’s financial needs, infrastructure development, and economic progress. The Finance Commission will also visit Jagdalpur on July 12 and 13.

Commission members Ajay Narayan Jha, Smt. Annie George Mathew, Dr. Manoj Panda, Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, and Commission Secretary Ritvik Ranjanam Pandey, along with Joint Secretary Kamal Kumar Mishra, Joint Director Raghvendra Singh, and other officials, will also come.

According to the schedule, the team will arrive at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur on July 10 at 6:20 pm. The following day, July 11, at 10 am, the Chairman and members will meet Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in his office at Mantralaya. Subsequently, at 10:25 am, a meeting will take place at Mahanadi Bhawan, where Chief Minister Sai will address attendees, covering various issues, including the state’s financial requirements. A presentation on the state’s financial situation will also be given during this meeting.

On July 11 itself, discussions will be held with representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions, urban institutions, and political parties from 2:30 PM to 5 PM.

The Commission will engage with representatives from industry and commerce organizations on July 12 from 9:15 am to 10 am. Following this, there is a scheduled visit to Naya Raipur from 10 am to 12 pm. Afterward, the team will depart for Jagdalpur and, following overnight rest, a meeting will be held with Panchayat representatives at Jagdalpur Circuit House the next day, July 13.
