SECL celebrates 78th Independence Day with patriotic pomp

The South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) celebrated 78th Independence Day with patriotic fervour and zeal.

The main Independence Day function was organized at Vasant Vihar Sports Ground SECL Bilaspur where Chief Guest and SECL Chairman cum Managing Director Dr Prem Sagar Mishra hoisted the national flag and took the salute of the parade. Dr Mishra also inspected the main parade led by Parade Commander V. Dakshinamurthy and D P Diwakar.

Chief Security Ashok Kumar accompanied the Chief Guest during the inspection. In the parade, two platoons of SECL Security Department were led by Vijay Gupta and Prakash Dwivedi. Platoon No. 3 was led by Bhavya Shri Ramesh, DAV School, Platoon No. 4 was led by Kumari Kavita Kashyap, Platoon No. 5 was led by Savita Jangde and Platoon No. 6 was led by Master Abhay. There was also a band platoon in the parade.

Speaking on this occasion, SECL CMD extended his hearty greetings and best wishes to all the attendees and said that by ensuring India’s energy security, they have to play an important role in realizing the dream of Developed India Vision 2047. Last year, due to the hard work of all, the company recorded the highest production, profits and dividends in its history. In the recently released list of top 10 mines of worldatlas.com, SECL’s Gevra and Kusmunda mines have got second and fourth place in the whole world, which has given a new identity to the whole of India, Chhattisgarh state and SECL in the world.

Underground mining is naturally environmentally friendly and the company has set a target to increase underground production in the coming time, for which the use of continuous miner technology is being promoted. “We have already installed 16 continuous miners and our target is to install a total of 58 such machines. In the field of environment, SECL is working on a large scale to fulfill the dream of a green Koyalanchal with the help of tree plantation, green credit and compensatory afforestation,” Dr Mishra said.

Under SECL’s Sushruta Yojana, the company provided free residential coaching of NEET Medical to 40 children of Koyalanchal and today it is a matter of great joy that 39 out of those 40 children have passed this examination and these children will fulfill their dream of becoming doctors in future and will realize the dream of a healthy India. Through Amrit Pharmacy, SECL is working to provide medicines for serious diseases to the people of Koyalanchal at affordable prices. Under Mission Nachiketa, SECL is also promoting the work culture of reading-writing, skill development and knowledge sharing among all its employees.

Earlier, in a programme organised in the premises of SECL Administrative Building, in the presence of Haridwar Singh (AITUC) of SECL Steering Committee, various department heads, labour union representatives, officers and employees, Director (Personnel) Biranchi Das garlanded the Shahid Smarak and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar statue and the miner statue located in the headquarters administrative building, hoisted the flag and took the salute of the parade organised by the security guards, led by Ravi Shankar Adile.

On this occasion, the National Anthem and Coal India Corporate Song were played. Remembering the brave martyrs and labour heroes, he said that the achievements of SECL are the result of the hard work and dedication of our skilled workers. He appealed to everyone to follow the rules and regulations and give their best contribution in the interest of the company and the country.

The main function at Vasant Vihar Sports Ground was attended by Director Technical (Operations) S N Kapri, Director Technical (Planning/Project) Franklin Jaikumar, Director (Personnel) Biranchi Das and Director (Finance) D Sunil Kumar, Haridwar Singh (AITUC) from SECL Steering Committee, A K Pandey from CMOAI, Council President O P Navrang, Shraddha Mahila Mandal President Mrs. Poonam Mishra, Vice President Mrs. Sangeeta Kapri, Mrs. Anita Franklin, Mrs. Ipsita Das, Mrs. Hasina Kumar, various department heads, labor union representatives, officers-employees, and school children.

In the function, the CMD along with his Board of Directors and Shraddha Mahila Mandal officials, collectively released pigeons and balloons in the sky and gave the message of peace.

In the function, children of DAV Public School, Loyola School, Holi Nursery School, Dreamland and Krishna Public School gave a captivating presentation of various patriotic songs and dances. The participants of the parade were awarded for the best drill team, the best drill team and the best costume by the chief guest.
