Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Union Ministry of Railways’ approval of the final survey and Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation for two new rail line projects in Chhattisgarh.

He emphasised that this will further enhance the state’s rail infrastructure.

The Union Ministry of Railways has approved the final survey and DPR preparation for two new rail line projects in Chhattisgarh, spanning a total of 670 kilometres at Rs. 16.75 crore, under the South East Central Railway.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the survey approval for a new 490-kilometre rail line from Gadchiroli to Bacheli via Bijapur will significantly boost the inclusive development of Bastar. The ministry has allocated Rs. 12.25 crore for this survey, which will directly link remote areas of Bastar to cities, providing better access to higher education, employment, healthcare, and markets. This project is poised to elevate the Bastar region to new heights of development.

Similarly, the survey approval for a 180-kilometre rail line from Korba to Ambikapur will greatly contribute to the inclusive development of the Korba and Surguja regions, with Rs. 4.5 crore sanctioned for this survey.

The Chief Minister stated that the approval of these surveys marks a transformative step in the state’s rail infrastructure, paving the way for unprecedented development in the Bastar and Surguja divisions. These projects are also expected to generate significant employment opportunities for thousands of people.
