Historic Muria Darbar of the world famous Bastar Dussehra festival concluded at Sirhasar Bhawan in Jagdalpur on Tuesday.
The concluding ceremony was graced by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who announced a grant of Rs 50 lakh for development projects in Madia Sarai and launched the English version of the ancestral documents of the Bastar Development Authority of the event.
At the Muria Darbar, Sai said, “The world famous Bastar Dussehra festival, which is celebrated for 75 days is the most important festival of our faith and tradition in Bastar region. This historic event of Bastar Dussehra has now become globally famous and an attracting for people across the country and the world- causing increase in the number of tourists and strengthened local economy.”
With the blessings of Maa Danteshwari, the immense faith of the people of Bastar and the cooperation of all the people, this year also Bastar Dussehra has been organized grandly and successfully added Shri Sai.
Chief Minister directed the District Administration and Bastar Dussehra Committee to submit a proposal for increasing the honorarium of Manjhi-Chalaki and Member-Memberin.
Chief Minister expressed happiness on participating in the historic Muria Darbar of Bastar Dussehra festival and said that Muria Darbar has been organized for centuries. The Chief Minister said that Bastar Dussehra festival is a symbol of our rich culture which we all celebrate together with great joy and respect with a spirit of cooperation.
Chief Minister said that Dussehra Pasra event developed at a cost of about Rs 3 crore is a source of income for several native small-scale vendors and people involved in religious ceremonies including Manjhi Chalak.
CM announced that the budget set for the Bastar Dussehra festival has been increased to Rs 50 lakh. He talked about resolving the demands and problems of Manjhi-Chalak, members-members and officials of Bastar Dussehra Committee at Muria Darbar. The Chief Minister congratulated and wished all the people for playing an active role in the Bastar Dussehra festival.
Ministers, MPs and MLAs of Bastar region, local public representatives, members of Bastar royal family including Shri Kamal Chandra Bhanjdev, Vice President of Bastar Dussehra Committee, Majhi-Chalaki, members-members from different areas of Bastar division and a large number of dignitaries and villagers participated in the historic Muria Darbar of Bastar Dussehra festival.
On this occasion, Heir of the erstwhile Bastar Royal Family Kamal Chandra Bhanjdev gave information about the historical importance of Bastar Dussehra festival and called it a unique example of social harmony. He praised the initiative of the state government for the arrangement of Dev Sarai for the deities coming to participate in Bastar Dussehra festival and better facilities for the stay of Majhi-Chalaki, priests and villagers.
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap along with MP Bastar and Chairman Bastar Dussehra Committee Mahesh Kashyap and MLA Jagdalpur Kiran Singh Deo congratulated and wished the people of Bastar on the occasion of Bastar Dussehra festival.
The Vice President of Bastar Dussehra Committee, Laxman Manjhi said that the world famous Bastar Dussehra festival has been successfully completed with everyone’s cooperation and widespread participation.
