Appreciating the glorious history of Tribal community on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas at Science College Ground here on Friday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that Former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had worked to increase the honor, respect and pride of the Tribal community.
“Atal ji created a separate ministry for the welfare of the Tribal community and gave a new direction to the development of this community. Prime Minister Modi Ji has started many schemes for the upliftment of the tribal community,” Sai said. A budget provision of Rs 24,000 crore has been made under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana and Rs 80,000 crore for the Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, due to which the development of infrastructure in tribal areas and the betterment of the tribes is being done rapidly.
As a thoughtful gesture, Sai announced the Chief Minister’s Samman Nidhi for the Baiga, Gunia, Sirha people belonging to the tribal community of Chhattisgarh state on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda. Under this, they will be given financial assistance of Rs 5,000 annually. The Chief Minister announced the launch of Akhra Nirman Vikas Yojana for religious and auspicious functions in Tribal villages and the installation of statues of the martyrs of the Tribal community at identified sites.
The Chief Minister honored the dignitaries of the tribal community, the martyrs of the tribal rebellion in the state and the family members of freedom fighters in the ceremony. He awarded the winners of the Tribal painting competition. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai released the ‘Atlas’ related to Forest Rights Act, calendar ‘Shauryanjali’ and a book published on the subject of ‘Halba Janjati Ki Vachik Paramparayein’. Rajya Sabha MP Arun Singh, who was presiding over the program, appreciated the work being done for the upliftment and welfare of all sections in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. He said that the popularity and humility of Chief Minister Shri Sai is appreciated all over the country. He said that by coming to the Tribal Pride Day and Inter-State Dance Festival organized in Raipur, he has witnessed ‘Ek Bharat-Shrestha Bharat’. He congratulated Sai for this special event of Rashtriya Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas- National Tribal Pride Day.
While paying obeisance to the legendry of the Tribal community, Arun Singh said, “Only those countries and societies remain truly awake that honor their culture and remember their great leaders.”
Tribal Development Minister Ram Vichar Netam said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown concern for the upliftment of the tribal community. He has implemented many schemes for the development of this community. He said that the Dharti Aba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead to the overall development of 6500 villages and improvement of standard of living of the people of the tribal community is improving through the PM Janman Yojana.
It is noteworthy that on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several important projects worth Rs 6600 crores for the development and expansion of basic facilities in the remote rural areas of the country. The Prime Minister said that we are spending five times the budget for the welfare of the tribal areas and tribal community of the country. Ten years ago, its budget was only Rs 25,000 crores, but it has now increased to Rs 1,25,000 crores.
Modi addressed the inaugural function marking the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Jamui, Bihar. The event was broadcast live across the country. In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized efforts to correct historical injustices, highlighting that tribal communities had been denied their rightful place in history despite their significant contributions. He praised the tribal society for its role in India’s freedom struggle, with countless heroes sacrificing their lives for their culture, identity, and independence.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the contributions of President Smt. Draupadi Murmu in advancing the welfare of tribal communities, particularly through the PM Janman Yojana, which has allocated Rs 24,000 crore for the development of tribal settlements and villages. Tribal-dominated districts have been identified as aspirational districts, ensuring their all-round development.
He also congratulated the nation on the occasion of National Tribal Pride Day and the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda, linking it to significant cultural celebrations like Kartik Purnima, Dev Deepawali, and Guru Nanak Ji’s Prakash Parv. He announced the creation of Birsa Munda Tribal Gardens in districts and called for adopting the traditions and ideals of tribal society as a foundation for the country’s progress.
The event was attended by various public representatives, tribal society officials, and citizens, including MLAs, former ministers, and senior officials.
