Coal India Limited (CIL), the state-owned coal mining corporate, received the prestigious Green World Awards 2024, dedicated to recognizing, rewarding and promoting environmental best practices and CSR around the world.
Vinay Ranjan, Director (Personnel/IR), Coal India Limited (CIL), received the award at the presentation ceremony at The Orangery, Kensington Palace, London today.
The award was given by The Green Organization, which began in 1994 and is an independent, non-political, non-profit environment group, dedicated to recognizing, rewarding and promoting environmental best practices and CSR around the world.
Vinay Ranjan said; “Let this moment inspire us all to take action, protect our environment, and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.” He thanked everyone who supported me on this incredible journey.”
The Certificate of Achievement was present to Coal India Coal India Ltd in recognition of winning a Green World Award for their commitment to environment best practice.
CIL, living up to its Corporate Citizen role is one of the largest spenders in the country under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Coal India as a corporate entity, it contributes to the country’s economically and socially apart from its core role as energy provider.
CIL produces over 80 per cent of India’s overall coal production and contributes to 70 per cent of the total coal-based power generation in the country. The company contributes to 55 per cent of total power generation and meets 40 per cent of the primary commercial energy requirements of the country.
The company adopts multiple measures to improve environment, expand green cover over its mined-out areas, creates eco-parks and tourism spots, and provides mine water to lakhs of villagers for domestic and agricultural use.
