Chhattisgarh Housing Board houses to become affordable, state cabinet gives relief

The Chhattisgarh cabinet on Tuesday gave relief to the state-run Housing Board that is likely to benefit the buyers and make the property cheaper.

“The Council of Ministers decided to provide exemption from diversion fee, premium, penalty and re-determination of land revenue applicable by the State Government on diversion of land acquired by Chhattisgarh Housing Board till now and in future for residential purpose,” a state government statement said. This will benefit the house buyers of Housing Board, it added.

The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The meeting also approved a proposal to provide exemption from diversion fee and penalty for residential plots made free-hold by Chhattisgarh Housing Board.

The other decisions taken in the meeting included allowing the Civil Supplies Corporation to procure the required gram for distribution to eligible beneficiaries under the Public Distribution System through NeML e-auction platform. The cabinet also approved to withdraw 54 cases from the court recommended by the sub-committee of the Council of Ministers constituted regarding withdrawal of cases related to purely political movements from the court in public interest.

It was decided to appoint NAFED and NCCF as procurement agencies for the procurement of maize crop in the state in Kharif marketing year 2024-25 and pulses-oilseeds under Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan and gram, lentil and mustard in Rabi marketing season 2025-26.

The Council of Ministers took an important decision to ensure the availability of a new improved variety of seeds to the farmers of Chhattisgarh state at reasonable prices. Under this, seeds can be purchased directly as per the requirement from the Central Nodal Seed Agency empanelled in various schemes by the Government of India. For this, it was decided to give exemption to Chhattisgarh State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation in Rule 4 of Chhattisgarh State Store Purchase Rules 2002.

It also decided to abolish the green energy development fee charged to the project developer at the rate of Rs 1 lakh per megawatt per year for the first five years from the date of commencement of commercial production in the Chhattisgarh State Hydroelectric Project (Pumped Storage Based) Establishment Policy 2023. There was also a provision for a 25 percent increase in the green energy fee after every five years, this has also been abolished. This will promote hydropower projects and production of green energy in the state.

The Council of Ministers has authorized the School Education Department to centralize the examinations of class 5th and 8th.

The Council of Ministers approved the draft of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to obtain assistance in housing, urban development and other areas from Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) in the state of Chhattisgarh. It is noteworthy that HUDCO has proposed to provide financial assistance, consultancy and capacity development services of upto Rs one lakh crore to Chhattisgarh state in the next 5 years.
