Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) will soon implement an Artificial Intelligence-enabled mechanism to enhance the safety and security of both human resources and materials within the company.
Uday Anant Kaole, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of MCL, inaugurated the Annual Mines Safety Fortnight 2024-25 with a safety awareness rally. He emphasised that ensuring workplace safety should always be a top priority.
“Safety of our personnel and equipment has always been a cornerstone of our work culture. MCL has been pioneer in innovative use of technology, like surface miner, which has transformed the coal sector through blast-less coal extraction. I am happy to announce that MCL will fully utilise capabilities of AI-powered systems to further enhance the safety of our employees and machinery,” said the CMD, pressing everyone to embrace personal safety as an integral part of their daily lives.
Keshav Rao, Director (Personnel), P K Patel, Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), J K Borah, Director (Technical-Operations/Projects & Planning), and A K Behura, Director (Finance) were among the key participants who addressed employees and their families at the inaugural ceremony.
During the ceremony, P K Patel, along with J K Borah, unfurled the Safety Flag at the MCL Headquarters.
Krishnendu Mondal, Director of Mines Safety (Mining), Bhubaneswar Region-1, South-Eastern Zone, Ranchi, also participated in the ceremony virtually and addressed the employees.
Similar functions were organised across operational areas of the company in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda and Angul districts of Odisha. A series of activities and competitions will be held throughout this two-week-long observance.
