Coal India Limited (CIL) Chairman P M Prasad visited South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) and reviewed the progress of production in the mega projects as company’s registers negative growth even in November.
Prasad reached Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh that houses SECL headquarters on Tuesday and inspected the mining activities in all three megaprojects of the company namely Gevra, Dipka and Kusmunda. SECL’s production dropped over 11 per cent year-on-year in the month of November.
The CIL Chairman reviewed the production and productivity. SECL Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) Dr Prem Sagar Mishra and Directors were also present with Prasad during the visit.
In a statement issued, SECL said the CIL Chairman first visited Kusmunda Megaproject where he inspected the mining operations by visiting all the departmental and contractual patches. Along with this, he also inspected the in-pit conveyor system. While discussing with the core team, he emphasized on taking necessary steps to increase production and dispatch in the mine.
He then went to Dipka and Gevra Megaproject where he inspected the mining activities and reviewed the performance of the mine. He discussed the production plan for the remaining days of the financial year with the mine management and also gave necessary guidelines for improving the quality of coal.
He also directed Neelkanth Infra to install more machines to speed up production and OB activities. He also emphasized on starting the in-pit conveying system in a timely manner under FMC. Prasad asked the area management to explore the possibilities of installing solar trees to promote renewable energy in SECL’s mega projects.
After the field visit, Prasad held a review meeting with the regional general managers and heads of various departments of the three mega projects in the presence of the top management of SECL.
