SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant clocks remarkable performance in November 2024

Maintaining the upward trend in production SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant has registered all-round commendable performance in major parameters of performance in November 2024.

A statement issued by the BSP said all the MODEX units of the plant including Blast Furnace-8, Steel Melting Shop-3, Universal Rail Mill, Bar and Rod Mill and Refractory Materials Plant-3 achieved a remarkable production record. From lime production from RMP-3 to sinter and hot metal production, saleable steel, high tensile plates production to loading of prime rail, and saleable steel for dispatch, the Plant has registered handsome growth figures in November 2024 over the corresponding records in previous years. In the field of techno-economic indices, the blast furnaces of the plant recorded the best-ever coke rate in November 2024. These achievements have been possible with judicious utilization of resources and strict adherence to safety protocols.

BSP’s ore-handling plant recorded a total material handling of 18,38,864 tonnes in November 2024, surpassing the previous record of 16,59,941 tonnes in November 2022. Total production of lime + CD by RMP-3 in November 2024 was recorded at 53,390 tonnes, against its previous best record of 45,848 tonnes made in November 2023. The Sinter Plant of BSP has also recorded a total sinter production of 7,51,180 tonnes in November 2024 as against 7,30,375 tonnes in November 2022, while the Sinter Plant-3 of the Plant has recorded a total sinter production of 5,22,644 tonnes in November 2024 as against 4,89,681 tonnes in November 2022. Steel Melting Shop-3 (SMS-3) produced 3,00,840 tonnes of Cast Steel in November 2024, surpassing its previous record of 2,86,195 tonnes clocked in November 2022, whereas Blast Furnace-8 recorded production of 2,43,130 tonnes of hot metal in November 2024, surpassing its previous best of 2,39,826 tonnes made in November 2022. The Bar & Rod Mill of the Bhilai Steel Plant achieved its best-ever production of 84,030 tonnes in November 2024, surpassing the record of 82,017 tonnes set in November 2023.

The Plate Mill produced 33,966 tonnes of High-Tensile Plates in November 2024, surpassing the previous best record of 17,374 tonnes made in November 2014. Best production of Total Finished Plates of 3,88,240 tonnes was accomplished in November 2024, as against the record of 3,81,939 tonnes in November 2023. A total of 4,28,350 tonnes of saleable steel production was also achieved in November 2024, surpassing the previous best record of 4,08,766 tonnes made in November 2023.

As regards loading of prime rail total record 1,02,900 tonnes of loading was achieved in November 2024 as against 92,698 tonnes recorded in November 2022, while direct dispatch loading of 2,33,584 tonnes was also achieved in November 2024, surpassing 2,17,018 tonnes of direct dispatch loading recorded in November 2020. A total of 4,21,859 tonnes of saleable steel loading was registered in November 2024, surpassing the previous best of 4,19,358 tonnes made in November 2023. In the field of techno-economic indices, the plant’s blast furnaces have recorded the best coke rate of 424 kg per tonne of hot metal (kg/THM) for November 2024 as against 433 kg per tonne of hot metal recorded in November 2021.
