Raipur, December 11
A leader of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was brutally killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s BIjapur district on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Kudiyam Madho (35) son of Mura Kudiyam staying in village Somanpalli under Farsegarh police station in Bijapur. He was a local BJP leader.
According to police sources, rebels struck at the residence of Kudiyam late last night and kidnapped him from home. They took him in the adjoining forests and strangulated him to death.
On Wednesday, the rebels left the body of a BJP leader near Toynar Chowk. The entire area was in panic after discovering the body on which the rebels left a pamphlet.
Sources said the Maoists in the pamphlet charged that Kudiyam was working as a police informer and that led to his killing as punishment.
Soon after getting information, a police party reached the spot and took the body into its custody. The body has been sent for post-mortem even as the police started investigation into the matter.
This is the fifth incident of civilian killing in Bijapur in the last one week. However, the brutal murder of the BJP leader had stunned the party cadre.
