Raipur, December 12
Chhattisgarh Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Gurjinder Pal Singh, who was compulsorily retired during the tenure of previous Congress government, was on Wednesday reinstated by the Central Government.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the order to this effect today. The development came following the Supreme Court order delivered on Tuesday that dismissed Union of India’s challenge to the setting aside of an order of compulsory retirement against Chhattisgarh IPS Officer G P Singh.
A bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti passed the order in Union’s challenge to a Delhi High Court order, whereby the decision of the Central Administrative Tribunal setting aside Singh’s compulsory retirement was upheld.
“AND WHEREAS, keeping in view all the records, Judgments/Orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court/Delhi High Court/CAT, Principal Bench, New Delhi and facts and circumstances of the case, the Competent Authority in this Ministry has decided to comply with the directions of the Hon’ble CAT Principal Bench, New Delhi passed vide Judgment dated 30.04.2024 in OA No. 2440/2023; AND, NOW THEREFORE, in supersession of this Ministry’s Order of even number dated 20.07.2023, Shri Gurjinder Pal Singh, IPS is hereby reinstated in service with effect from 20.07.2023. It is accordingly ordered,” the MHA order said.
The Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh has been asked to take necessary action in this regard. With the reinstatement, the 1994 batch IPS officer will be soon getting a new posting in the state.
