Chhattisgarh police among bravest security forces: Amit Shah

Chhattisgarh Police and the state scripted history as Union Home Minister Amit Shah handed over the prestigious President’s Colour (Police Colors Award-2024) to the state police at a function organized at the Police Parade Ground in the state capital on Sunday.
This is the highest honour given to the armed forces of the country. The state has received this honour for the exceptional services, bravery and devotion of Chhattisgarh Police in the last 24 years. Chhattisgarh is the youngest state in the country to receive this honour, which has achieved this feat in just 24 years of its formation.
Amit Shah, while congratulating the Chhattisgarh Police at the President’s Nishan Investiture Ceremony, said that the President’s Police Colours Award was not just an honor, it was a symbol of service and duty. The courage and commitment shown by the Chhattisgarh Police in the fight against Naxalism, organized crime and drugs is unprecedented. Chhattisgarh Police has emerged as one of the best and brave police forces in the country, Shah said.
He said that the Central and State Government are fully committed to make Chhattisgarh and the country Naxal-free. Naxalism will be completely eradicated from Chhattisgarh and the country by March 31, 2026. He appealed to the Naxalites to give up arms and return to the mainstream.
Paying tribute to the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his death anniversary today, Shah said that the work done by Sardar Patel to unite the country has been further strengthened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by removing Article 370.
He expressed hope that the President’s Police Colours Award will become a source of inspiration for the police force, boosting their courage and morale. The Union Home Minister said that it is also a matter of pride for him to hand over the President’s Nishan to the brave police of Chhattisgarh. This honor is a symbol of the hard work, dedication and attachment of the Chhattisgarh Police towards the public.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai congratulated the jawans and officers of Chhattisgarh Police and said that this honour has been given to the police force for their exceptional services and dedication to the public in just 24 years of the formation of Chhattisgarh state. This honour will not only boost the morale of the police force, but will also inspire them to work with more enthusiasm.
The Chief Minister said that a large number of Naxalites had decided to surrender and return to the mainstream. He informed that better arrangements and special provisions have been made by the government for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites. In accordance with the policy of the Government of India, arrangements are being made to immediately keep those, who surrender and leave the path of violence, in transit camps.
Along with this, arrangements have been made to give them Rs 10,000 per month as stipend for three years. Training will also be provided for their skill development.
Giving information about the achievements of Chhattisgarh Police in his welcome address, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja said that since the establishment of the state on 1 November 2000, the police force had shown courage and determination on every front. Referring to the anti-Naxal operations, rehabilitation policies and campaigns against drugs going on in Naxal-affected areas, he said that Chhattisgarh Police had always been ready to serve the public.
The parade was held at the President’s Nishan decoration ceremony. In the Presidential Nishan Investiture Ceremony, Union Home Amit Shah took the salute from the impressive parade. He also inspected the parade.
Shah handed over the Presidential Nishan to Chhattisgarh Police after chanting mantras by religious leaders amid tricolour balloons in the sky and spectacular fireworks. He also released a coffee table book based on the 24-year journey of Chhattisgarh Police in the program.
Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh, Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Sharma and Arun Sao, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka along with police administration officials, jawans and family members of martyred jawans were present in large numbers in the ceremony.
