Chhattisgarh government has provided a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to Padma Vibhushan Smt. Teejan Bai, a renowned folk singer and performer from Chhattisgarh, known for her powerful and emotive renditions of Pandavani.

A traditional performing art form from Chhattisgarh, Smt. Teejan Bai enacts tales from the Mahabharata with musical accompaniment through Pandvani at the national and international platform. The winner of three prestigious Padma Awards, Smt. Teejan Bai is not keeping well.

Chhattisgarh Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal today reached her native village Ganiyari under Patan development block in Durg District and enquired about her health condition. Besides local public representatives, the District Collector, Chief Medical Officer of Durg along with other senior officials were present on the occasion.

The Minister interacted with Smt. Teejan Bai and her family members inquired about her well-being. He also discussed her health with the health officials. Jaiswal handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh as financial assistance to Smt. Teejan Bai on behalf of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai.

Jaiswal also assured to discuss with the Chief Minister regarding the demand for a job to the family member. He also talked about providing better medical facilities from the government level.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed that there should be no laxity in the treatment of Smt. Teejan Bai, who is the identity of Chhattisgarh. A team of doctors has also been deployed for the treatment of Teejan Bai, who also keeps issuing her medical bulletin continuously.

The Health Minister honoured Smt. Teejan Bai by presenting her a shawl and coconut.
