Union Minister pledges over 3 lakh houses under PM Awas in Chhattisgarh

Union Agriculture, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Friday announced 3 lakh 3 thousand 384 new houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Chhattisgarh.

Addressing a programme organised at Nagpura in Durg district, Singh informed that under the historic effort to provide permanent houses to the poor across the country, 8 lakh 47 thousand houses have already been sanctioned in Chhattisgarh so far. He said that the Central Government has set new eligibility criteria to make this scheme more inclusive, in which the maximum income limit has now been increased to Rs 15,000.

Apart from this, those who have two and a half acres of irrigated land or five acres of non-irrigated land will also be eligible under this scheme. Beneficiaries can now apply and survey for their housing themselves, Singh said.

The announcement of over three lakh new houses will have a significant impact on the housing and agriculture sector in Chhattisgarh.

The Union Minister said the double engine government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Center and Vishnu Deo Sai in the state is working with full dedication to change the picture and fate of the state. The Prime Minister had promised housing to the poor that is being realised today.

Chouhan said that emphasis had been laid on increasing the production of crops, reducing the cost of farming and crop diversification. New varieties of paddy are also being released. He said that women are being empowered under the Lakhpati Didi Yojana, which is bringing new life to the rural economy.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, while addressing, said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi started the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide housing to crores of homeless families. A government of good governance came to Chhattisgarh. A double engine government was formed. “We held a cabinet meeting the very next day after taking oath and approved 18 lakh houses. Today, due to this decision, satisfaction is visible on the faces of lakhs of beneficiaries of Chhattisgarh,” Sai said.

The Chief Minister said that they were constantly monitoring that work on PM Awas can be done at a fast pace. GIS mapping and accurate planning is being prepared through the Griha portal. “We have entrusted the responsibility of supplying construction material for PM houses to self-help groups under the Lakhpati Didi programme. This is also helping a lot in women empowerment, in this work, Awas Mitra is effectively helping the beneficiaries due to which the construction of houses is being completed on time,” Sai said.

They have made arrangements for discount coupons to provide construction material to the beneficiaries at low cost. Toll free number has also been arranged for quick redressal of complaints. He said that it has been decided to build 15 thousand houses for surrendered Maoists and Naxal-affected families. The implementation of PM Janman Yojana brought for the development of special backward tribes is also happening rapidly in the state.

Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh said that 18 lakh houses had been approved in Chhattisgarh, fulfilling the guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that due to the coordination of the Central and State Government, there has been unprecedented progress in housing and road construction in the state.

In the program, material was distributed to the rural mason trainees. Gram Panchayats, Janpad Panchayats and voluntary organizations doing excellent work were honored. Incentives and cleanliness kits were distributed to the beneficiaries of individual toilet construction. Drone Didi and Lakhpati Didi were awarded certificates and their work was appreciated. Rights records were distributed to the beneficiaries under the ownership scheme.
