Raipur, January 28
The Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday cracked whip on the absentee and sacked 27 medical officers and specialist doctors from the service.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has terminated the services of 27 medical officers and specialist doctors who were absent for a long time without authorization, a statement issued by the state government said. Also, orders for departmental inquiry have been issued against 21 medical officers.
Before taking stringent action, show cause notices were issued to medical officers and specialist doctors following their unauthorized absence from their duty place for a long time. The basic rules of governance and Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Leave) Rules were violated by the medical officers and specialist doctors by remaining absent for more than three consecutive years without permission from the competent authorities.
The state government said the absent officers and doctors were given full opportunity to present their version by issuing show cause notices. The explanation given by the medical officers and specialist doctors were examined. “After seriously considering the explanation submitted by them, the decision was taken to terminate the services of medical officers and specialist doctors,” the statement added.
