Chhattisgarh set another record of paddy purchase by procuring over 14.9 million tonnes (MT) at minimum support price (MSP) during the kharif marketing season 2024-25.
The paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh started on November 15, 2024 and continued till January 31, 2025. The purchase in the 2739 procurement centers set up across the state continued till mid night.
According to the last available report, over 14.9 MT of paddy has been purchased in the state from 25 lakh 49 thousand registered farmers. In lieu of paddy purchase, Rs 31,089 crore has been paid to the farmers under the bank linking system.
The state government had set the target of purchasing 16 MT of paddy in the season. It is worth mentioning that last year 14.49 MT of paddy was procured in the state.
Food department officials said that along with paddy procurement, paddy is being lifted at a fast pace for custom milling. So far, DO and TO have been issued for lifting of 12.1 MT of paddy. Against which 10 MT of paddy has been lifted.
It is worth mentioning that 27.78 lakh farmers have been registered by the state government for this Kharif year. This includes 1.59 lakh new farmers.
