Coal India receives Golden Peacock Award

Coal India Limited (CIL) under the aegis of the Ministry of Coal (MoC) has been bestowed with ‘Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility’ for carrying out exemplary CSR initiatives recently.

The award was given by Institute of Directors (IOD) during two-day “IOD’s 19th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai.  Golden Peacock Awards, instituted by IOD is honoured to companies for carrying out exemplary CSR projects across the country. 

The prestigious Golden Peacock Awards Trophy and Certificate was presented to P M Prasad, Chairman, CIL, Dr Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR),  along with officials from CSR Team Nitish Pareek, Sachin B  during specially organized two-day (6-7 Feb) ‘Golden Peacock Awards Presentation Ceremony’ at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai.  On this occasion distinguished business and industry leaders graced the occasion. 

P M Prasad, Chairman, CIL said, “We at Coal India are honoured to receive the prestigious Golden Peacock CSR Award 2024, reaffirming our commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility. This recognition motivates us to continue making a positive impact on communities while driving responsible growth.” 

Dr Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR), CIL said, “ We are committed for inclusive and sustainable growth by implementing impactful CSR initiatives across Pan India, transforming lives and communities on diversified subjects touching lives of common public with alignment of vision of government.” 

CIL and its subsidiaries are implementing impactful CSR projects under the leadership of P M Prasad, Dr Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR) and guidance of Senior officials, MoC including Vikram Dev Dutt Secretary (Coal).  O P Mishra, Executive Director (CD), CIL  and Smt Renu Chaturvedi, GM(CSR), CIL meticulously execute and regularly monitor the projects to have a lasting impact on society.     

In last three years, CIL and its subsidiaries have spent Rs. 1673 Crores in Healthcare, education, rural developments etc. As much as 90 per cent of the total CSR expenditure is incurred by the coal companies in their operational states and 10 per cent in PAN India impactful projects that aim to transform lives of needy people.
