Chhattisgarh holds ‘Pre-Bid Conference’ for auction of iron ore blocks

The Directorate of Geology and Mining in Chhattisgarh organized a ‘Pre-Bid Conference’ on Friday for the auction of iron ore blocks in Bailadila area of ​​​​Bastar.

Mining investors and bidders from all over the country participated in the meeting, where detailed discussions were held on the auction process, investment opportunities, and mineral resources. Besides, three world-class iron ore blocks located in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, one block of North Bastar Kanker have been put for auction.

Senior officials and experts of the mining department clarified the queries of the participants and explained the e-auction process in detail.

Chhattisgarh Mining Secretary P Dayanand said the state had immense potential in terms of mineral resources, which provides an opportunity for extensive development in the field of industry, trade, and employment. He said that Chhattisgarh will play an important role in realizing the resolve of self-reliant India, as huge reserves of high-quality iron ore are available here.

While inviting bidders to invest in Chhattisgarh, he assured them that the government will provide them all possible assistance. He said that the Bailadila region was the backbone of India’s steel industry and the development of the region would lead to a massive increase in the local economy and employment.

GSI Deputy Director General Amit Dharwadkar said that Chhattisgarh is the second richest mineral-rich state in the country. He said that the iron ore region spread from Bailadila to Dalli Rajhara is counted among the important iron ore deposits of the world, which plays an important role in meeting the needs of India’s steel industry.

The Director in the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Sunil Kumar Jain, while highlighting the auction process and the importance of iron ore blocks, said that it was necessary to ensure the availability of raw material to increase steel production in the country by 2030.

Joint Director and Nodal Officer (Auction) Anurag Diwan said that Chhattisgarh was one of the most suitable states for industrial investment and it would play an important role in realizing the vision of Developed India 2047.

Under the auction process, tender documents can be purchased online till 3 pm on February 27, 2025. The last date for submitting tenders is 3 pm on February 28, 2025. Interested bidders can get detailed information by visiting the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Indravati Bhawan, Block-4, 2nd Floor, Nava Raipur.

Mining companies, industrial groups and investors from across the country participated enthusiastically in the pre-bid conference. There was a positive response to the auction process in view of the high quality of iron ore deposits located in the Bailadila region of Chhattisgarh and the favorable investment environment. The event is an important step towards establishing Chhattisgarh as a leading state in the field of mining and steel production.
