Rourkela, March 11
As the Holi festival arrives, the Steel City of Rourkela transforms into a breathtaking paradise, draped in a vibrant display of colors.
The golden brilliance of trumpet trees, laden with cascading yellow blossoms, and the fiery hues of Bougainvillea stretching along the Ring Road create a mesmerizing spectacle, turning the industrial city into a floral wonderland.
With the leaves of the trumpet trees barely visible beneath their golden shower of blooms, the cityscape appears bathed in bright hues, even on cloudy days. Meanwhile, Bougainvillea vines, in shades of pink, magenta, orange, and white, climb fences, archways, and roadside dividers, adding bursts of color to every corner of the city.
Residents and visitors alike are enchanted by this natural transformation. Every spring, Rourkela blooms in a way that feels magical for the nature lovers. The IG Park and the Nehru Park burst into a kaleidoscope of colors. These green spaces, adorned with seasonal blooms, offer a refreshing escape for nature lovers and families.
The transformation is the result of the relentless and caring efforts of the Horticulture Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). The credit of planting and maintaining around 1500 bougainvilleas along the entire stretch of the Ring Road goes to the department. Also the unit has planted hundreds of trumpet trees all over the city, enhancing the beauty to give the city a unique distinction.
With the arrival of spring, Rourkela once again reminds its people that beyond making steel for the country, it holds a soul painted in blossoms, thanks to the leading steel maker of the country, SAIL.
