Andhra Mahila Mandali celebrated Ugadi festival with great pomp and gaiety at Bhilai in Chhattisgarh.

The event was organised at Andhra Bhavan in Sector-5. During the program, women showed their talent in cultural programmes. From dance to acting, there was a platform here. The programme started with Deep Prajalan and Ganesh Vandana.

State wise dance of elders, semi classical dance of children and mono acting of senior citizens were the key events in the cultural programme. Purnima Vasudha bagged first prize in the category of children’s dance while Jayshika, Nikita, Khushi, Jigyasa, Akshaya, Rashi, Gayatri, Ankita secured second. Shubhalakshmi was first in mono acting, Ahilya ji was second. In the dance for adults, the group of Sector-5 won the first prize in Punjabi Bhangra, the group of Scindia Nagar won the second prize in Chhattisgarhi dance and the group of Sector-1 won the third prize in Odisha dance.

Teacher Jaya Reddy was the guest of honour in the programme. She has been teaching Bharatanatyam for 30 years. Dancer, social worker, politician, instructor Mamta was present as the judge. V. Ramyachi (Bharatnatyam dancer), M. Shreya (Bharatnatyam dancer) and B. Medha (Bharatnatyam dancer) etc. graced the programme.

The main participants in making the programme successful were President Peri Padma, Vice President Pavani Mohan, Secretary Anantha Lakshmi, Joint Secretary Tupti Lakshmi, Nagkumari Treasurer Vara Lakshmi and Executive Member Vijay Nirmala and all the members. The stage was managed by M. Padmaja and Vijaya Nirmala.
