Funds 10 mobile medical units in Ballari district of Karnataka

State-run National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) would provide healthcare facilities in the pocket tucked away unobtrusively in Ballari district of Karnataka.
Chairman and Managing Director of NMDC Sumit Deb flagged off 10 mobile medical units (MMU) to facilitate access to public healthcare in Sandur and Hospet taluks at Donimalai Complex of Karnataka.
The function was attended by Ballari MP Devendrappa, Sandur MLA E Tukaram, Ballari Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul (IAS), CEO Ballari Zilla Panchayat Smt K R Nandini besides Director (Production) NMDC P K Satpathy and CGM NMDC’s Donimalai Complex Sanjeev Sahi.
The operation of MMU was instituted by S S Nakul, Deputy Commissioner Ballari. NMDC LImited partnered with state authorities to provide the requisite funds for the operation of units.
NMDC has earmarked a budget of Rs 10.26 crore for 3 years; of which Rs 171 lakhs was released as the first instalment. The Mobile Medical Units, natively called Amrutha Vahini, will provide basic healthcare facilities at the doorstep of people living in remote, vulnerable, and under-served regions.
“NMDC makes sincere efforts to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of people living in and around the mines. Taking a step further in this direction, the Mobile Medical Units will increase accessibility of medical care in remote areas like Sandur and Hospet. We are grateful to the state authorities for this noble opportunity and their cooperation,” Deb said.
