India honouring the supreme sacrifice of Colonel Santosh Babu and other fallen soldiers for giving befitting reply to China in the Galwan valley had baffled the latter.
Colonel Babu had been awarded posthumously with the second-highest wartime gallantry medal Mahavir Chakra on the Republic Day this year. Besides, five other soldiers were also awarded who laid down their lives fighting the Chinese on the borders.
However, India recognised its bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the motherland were honoured. But China did not even reveal the names of the soldiers who died or sustained injuries in the clash that took place in June last year.
The awards for soldiers had come as a big shock for China. “India slammed for awarding perished soldiers amid latest China-India military talks,” China’s state-owned newspaper reported today.
The report said Chinese experts blasted India for escalating tensions after India has reportedly awarded soldiers who died in a conflict with Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley in June 2020. Indian media reported the awarding on Monday night, the day the ninth round of the China-India Corps Commander Level Meeting ended, in which both countries agreed to push for an early troops disengagement and continue to stabilize the border situation, it added.
The incident had disturbed China to such an extend that its media mouthpiece had even avoided to name India’s hero. “Citing an anonymous official, Indian media said a colonel surnamed Babu who died in the conflict with Chinese soldiers in Galwan Valley has been posthumously given the second-highest military award…,” the Chinese newspaper said without even checking the full of the Galwan hero to follow the basics of news reporting.
