Team News Riveting

Dantewada, February 16

A team of Chhattisgarh police infiltrated the state border and stormed into a village in the neighbouring state of Telangana to nab two Maoists.

Of the two, one was reportedly involved in the landmine blast that blew up the vehicle of BJP lawmaker Bheema Mandavi, killing him and four security personnel in Shyamagiri in April 2019.

Dantewada District Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava said that they had received a specific intelligence input about the presence of two wanted Maoists in the Telangana village. “Accordingly, an operational strategy was designed and the personnel from the District Reserve Group (DRG) were deputed to strike,” Pallava said.

The team crossed the border and stormed Peniguda village under Kotagudem police station limits—not far away from the Chhattisgarh border. Two rebels were nabbed, identified as Guddi Madvi (28), deputy chief commander of Katekalyan Area Committee of the banned CPI (Maoist) and Pele Madvi (26), Katekalyan area committee commander.

Pallava said Guddi Madvi was involved in the incident in which Dantewada MLA Bhima Mandavi was killed. The case is under National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation.

Besides, the nabbed Naxalites had been charged for damaging roads, planting landmines and engaging in various other illegal activities in the Katekalyan police station limit. Pele was accused of damaging roads, planting landmines and detonating it besides other crimes, he added.

The duo were carrying rewards; Rs 8 lakh from Chhattisgarh government and Rs 50,000 from NIA.
