The worst Maoist-infested village of Temrupani under Antagarh block had an unexpected visitor when they found Chhattisgarh Governor Anusuiya Uikey at their doorstep.

The Governor reached the village that had been a hot spot of Maoists insurgency in the state’s Kanker district and attended a programme of Gondvana Vikas Samiti. For the tribals living under the shadow of Left terror, the visit of Anusuiya Uikey had come as a big boost for not only the people but also the security personnel.

For, instead of flying and landing in helipads made in the security forces camps or police station, the Governor preferred to travel by road to reach the village. She would be the first Governor to travel some 500 km by road to reach the insurgency-hit village and interact with the villagers.

Addressing the gathering, Anusuiya Uikey said every community had their own god to worship. “Everyone is free to worship his or her own god but they shall remain united when it comes to nationalism and worship motherland,” Anusuiya said, adding that the tribals have their own culture and live with self-respect.

The Governor said the tribals live with nature and never indulge in any wrongdoing.

Anusuiya Uikey also appreciated the efforts of journalists working in the insurgency-hit areas and said their dedicated and courageous reporting from the ground had been providing her vital inputs.
