National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed charge sheet in the special court at Ranchi against a top extremist of Jharkhand, Vikas Ganju, the self-styled zonal commander of Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), a splinter Maoist outfit active in Jharkhand.
According to NIA spokesman, the charge sheet has been filed under different sections of the UAPA and IPC against Vikash Ganju alias Avinash alias Dashrath in connection with the FIR registered at Panki police station of Palamu on November 23, 2017 following recovery of Rs five lakh cash besides arms and ammunitions from the TPC operators. TPC is a breakaway group of CPI (Maoists) and declared an unlawful organisation.
TPC is involved in extortion and levy collection from the businessmen, industrialists, contractors involved in government developmental projects in several districts of Jharkhand and Bihar. NIA had taken over the investigation on July 9,2018 after re-registering the case as RC 23/2018/NIA/DLI.
Earlier, NIA had filed first supplementary charge sheet on July 23.2017 against eight accused including Shyam Bhokta, Uchit Mahto, Premsagar Mahto, Amit Singh, AkramanJi, Laxman Ganju alias Kohram ji, Mukesh Ganjhu and Nageswar Ganju alias Tarun Ji in this case.
Absconding accused Vikas Ganjhu alias Avinash alias Dashrath Ganjhu alias Varun Ji, s/o Ramdev alias Leda Ganjhu, resident of Magaratola, under Kunda, police station in Chatra (Jharkhnad) was remanded in the instant case on September 9. 2020.
Investigation has established that arrested accused Vikas Ganjhu alias Avinash alias Dashrath Ganjhu alias Varun, a TPC Zonal Commander, colluded with the top leadership of TPC and was actively involved in extortion and levy collection for further strengthening TPC and to carry out various terrorist activities, NIA spokesman said.
