New Delhi, March 8

Indian Mujahideen terrorist Aziz Khan was today found guilty of killing super cop Mohan Chand Sharma during the Batla House encounter in September 2008 by a Delhi Court.

Khan was arrested in 2018 by the Delhi Police from Nepal after being on the run for almost a decade. The quantum of punishment will be announced on March 15.

While encountering terrorists linked with the 13 September 2008 Delhi blasts who were hiding at a house in Jamianagar, Sharma led from the front and was fatally wounded as terrorists pumped three bullets in his chest. Sharma was not equipped with a bullet proof jacket then.

Sharma played a key role in arresting four Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists in February 2007 after an encounter in DDU Marg. In 2006, he was involved in the encounter of a most wanted terrorist, Abu Hamza near the J N Stadium.

For his exemplary services and unparalleled bravery during the operation, the former Inspector of the Delhi Police was decorated with the Ashoka Chakra, the highest gallantry medal,

As reported, the bravery of Indian police forces was sullied by dirty politics which played out in the aftermath of the Batla House encounter.

Various so-called human rights activists dubbed the Batla House encounter as “fake” and even set up Kangaroo courts to try and prove their allegations.

Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid even claimed that Sonia Gandhi cried after being shown the images of the encounter. He in 2017 made a U-Turn by admitting that Sonia Gandhi didn’t cry after seeing those images.

A trial court in July 2013 had sentenced Indian Mujahideen terrorist Shahzad Ahmed to life imprisonment in connection with the Batla House encounter case. His appeal against the trial court’s verdict has been pending in the high court.
