Sharda Energy and Minerals Limited (SEML), a flagship entity of Chhattisgarh-based Sharda Group, had announced synchronization of unit one of Rongnichu (Sikkim) Hydro Power Plant under subsidiary.

“The 1st unit of 56.5 MW has been synchronized with the grid in the evening hours on 18th April 2021. Second unit is expected to be synchronized with the grid this week,” SEML said in a regulatory filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today.

It added that the company was pleased to inform that the 113 MW (2×56.5 MW) Hydro Power Plant installed by M/s. Madhya Bharat Power Corporation Ltd. (MBPCL) – a subsidiary of the company—had received all requisite approvals for capacity enhancement of the plant from 96 MW to 113 MW.

The project is close to State Highway NH31A. The power generated shall be evacuated by a 7.5Km long 220KV D/C line from kumrek generating substation to PGCIL’s Rangpo pooling substation at Samardung.

The plant would commence full load commercial operation after a short shutdown to attend the deficiencies observed during the trial run.
