Raipur, April 24

In a move aimed to bestow best of medical care to its workforce, Coal India Limited (CIL) had relaxed the norms for the COVID-19 medical care.

Following the surge in the COVID-19 cases and limited medical infrastructure, CIL had facilitated for the employees to take COVID-19 treatment even in the non empanelled hospitals. According to the company’s medical guidelines, the employees had to avail the services of the hospitals empanelled.

The spokesperson of the South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), an arm of the CIL, said that the required notification had been issued from the company’s headquarters in Kolkata. “The order would be effective for the CIL and all its subsidiaries,” the spokesperson added.

Under the notification, the employees, their dependents covered and retired employees-officials could avail the services of any hospital and nursing home in case of emergency given the sacristy of oxygen beds and ventilators in the empanelled hospitals. The CIL would reimburse the medical bills.

The order came into effect from March 2020 and would cover only COVID-19 treatment.
