Corona claims Bihar’s Chief Secretary

Patna, April 30

Arun Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary of Bihar, died at Corona in a reputed private hospital here on Friday afternoon.

Singh was a 1985-batch IAS officer of the Bihar cadre and took charge of state’s administration head on February 27. A native of Bihar’s West Champaran district, he was due to retire from the service on August 31, 2021.

The Chief Secretary was admitted to a private hospital four days ago. He had developed positive symptoms of contagious COVID-19 10 days back and was admitted to a government hospital. His condition deteriorated in last couple of days and finally he succumbed to the COVID-19 today afternoon.

The state government had confirmed the demise of the Chief Secretary.

Additional chief secretary of Home department, Chaitanya Prasad is also undergoing treatment for corona. In last one week, three senior IAS officers, Vijay Ranjan, Pankaj Kumar Singh and Ravishankar Chaudhuri succumbed to Corona in AIIMS, Patna. District magistrates of Nalanda and Gaya are also hit by Corona.
