The Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee is yet to start the third inning that began with reported ransacking and setting BJP office on fire in Arambagh of Hooghly district.
While the counting of votes was continuing with trend showing TMC heading for a landslide victory, its activists stuck at the BJP office in Arambagh late in the afternoon. Till 6.30 pm, Sujata Mondal of AITC was leading by marginal votes. She had polled 12370 votes, leading over Madhusudan Bag of BJP, who had bagged 10843 votes.
A huge crowd gathered outside the BJP office celebrating TMC’s victory. The National in-charge of BJP’s Information and Technology department, Amit Malviya had posted a video that clearly indicate a mob outside BJP office, ransacking the office and setting it on fire. The BJP alleged TMC workers were behind the act. The TMC leaders could not be contacted for the version.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said in a tweet that as West Bengal poll results were being declared, TMC goons had started attacking BJP offices and workers. BJP office in Arambagh was set on fire by TMC goons. TMC workers attacked BJP workers in Belaghat, similar incidents happened in Shivpur, Durgapur, Uttar Bardhaman, he added.
