CCL’s April act; production up by whopping 113%

The Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), an arm of Coal India Limited (CIL), had registered a whopping 113 per cent production growth in the month of April as compared to corresponding period of previous year.

Amidst lockdown induced by the second wave of COVID-19, CCL registered unprecedented growth of 113 percent in coal production (4.84 Million Tonnes) in April 2021 against April 2020 (2.28 Million Tonnes). Similarly, in other categories of coal offtake, CCL witnessed growth 122 percent in April 2021 (6.56 Million Tonnes) compared to the corresponding same month i.e April 2020 (2.96 Million Tonnes).

The Chairman-cum-Managing Director of CCL, P M Prasad is constantly monitoring the mining activities by conducting virtual meetings with Area GMs and issuing necessary directives to them so that mining activities continue during this ongoing pandemic.  During the top area coordination meeting, he asked the CMS, CCL, Area General Managers and General Manager (SD&CSR) to work closely with the state government and district administration to fight COVID-19 pandemic.

He has also directed the concerned officials to increase COVID care facilities on war footing to the extent possible and adopt COVID appropriate behavior i.e social distancing, masking and vaccination.

CCL has mining operations in Chatra, Latehar, Ramgarh,  Hazaribag, Bokaro, Ranchi, Giridih and Palamu districts of Jharkhand. Ever since the onset  of COVID-19 in 2020, CCL as a responsible Corporate Entity has been engaged in helping people combating the pandemic in its command Area and assisted the State/District Administration for various measures to combat COVID-19 by means of direct distribution of ration, food packets, mask sanitizer, Financial Contribution to District/State in First wave (2020-21) and by contributing to Command area District Administration for setting up Covid Care Centre, ICU, Oxygen Plant, Pipeline etc during 2021-22 to combat the second wave of COVID-19.

CCL hospitals namely Gandhinagar hospital, Ranchi, Central Hospital, Ramgarh, Dakra, Rajrappa and Dhori Hospitals with 295 beds are serving as COVID Hospitals in coordination with District Administration and rendering free treatment to Corona patients. Recently, CCL has signed eight separate MoUs with the local administration of Ramgarh, Latehar, Chatra, Bokaro, Ranchi, Giridih, Palamu and Hazaribagh to strengthen the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
