Fighting between Israel and Hamas escalated in what has become the heaviest flare-up since the 2014 Gaza War as the former today struck to destroy latter’s major weapon stores.
At least 188 people have killed in the Gaza Strip, and 10 in Israel in the most intensive aerial exchanges in years.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces struck a warehouse containing weapons, located in the house of a Hamas operative in central Gaza, and a Hamas naval weapons warehouse in southern Gaza. “We struck military assets in Hamas’ intelligence HQ in northern Gaza, significantly harming the terrorist organization’s central infrastructure,” Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said in a statement.
Yesterday, the IDF targeted an important base of operations for Hamas’ military intel in Al Jala Tower in Gaza that also housed some international media houses. The base gathered intel for attacks against Israel, manufactured weapons and positioned equipment to hamper IDF operations.
“Take a look at our Iron Dome in action. Hamas fired a barrage of rockets into central and southern Israel tonight. With our Iron Dome Aerial Defense System operators in action, these systems help keep Israel’s skies safe,” the IDF tweet said.
Hamas rocket barrages pounded southern and central Israel throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday morning with almost 300 projectiles launched at Israel, 120 on Saturday overnight alone.
No injuries were reported due to direct hits or shrapnel in the barrage on Saturday night or Sunday morning, although 10 people were injured while running to bomb shelters.
