Amity, UNICEF tie up for tribal development in Chhattisgarh

Amity University Chhattisgarh and UNICEF today inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for establishing a centre of knowledge on children, women and tribal development.

Amity University is committed to regional development and action-oriented research. It would join hands with UNICEF to focus on child and maternal health, nutrition, education, early childhood development, solid waste management and many more areas of tribal development in Chhattisgarh.

Vice Chancellor of Amity University Chhattisgarh Prof. R K Pandey said Amity University Chhattisgarh would partner with UNICEF to undertake initiatives for tribal development and this strategic partnership would go a long way where technology and education would improve the overall socio-economic level of the tribal population. The deal would facilitate students of different schools of AUC (viz . Engineering, Management, Law, Mass Communication, Fashion, Architecture, Biotechnology) to get expertise and work closely with the tribal community.

The NSS (National Service Scheme) Unit of AUC will also get a broad region to provide service to the tribal community. Activities by UNICEF and AUC under the MoU would include strengthening knowledge management, building capacities of people and institutions, academic support as Centre of Excellence, technical support in planning and monitoring, youth empowerment, innovations, and incubation centres and many more.

The ceremony was organised at the Amity University Chhattisgarh (AUC) campus. Besides Prof. Pandey, Chief-UNICEF Chhattisgarh Job Zachariah, WASH Specialist-UNICEF Ms. Sweta Patnaik, Dean- Faculty of Management and Commerce and Director Amity Business School Prof. Sumita Dave, Head-Incubator & CRC Prof. Satyendra Patnaik, Director-Administration Anil Kumar Nigam, and Registrar-Amity University Chhattisgarh Sudip Mukherjee were present on the occasion.
